An Al-Shabab member Abdullahi Ali Hussein (Ali Qudaar) surrendered to Somali National Army (SNA) in Galmudug state, SONNA reported.
Qudaar says he was forcefully recruited by the terror group during his childhood in Bacaadwayne village of Mudug province.
SNA command in the region told Somali National News Agency they are have welcoming several militants defected from the insurgents recent weeks.
“The ongoing nationwide military offensive put pressure on the terrorists, forcing many of them to flee from the hideouts,” a military sources told SONNA.
So far in the operation, more than 40 areas were liberated, over 200 militants killed and up to 300 jihadists apprehended, pending for interrogation and trial process.
