Somali National Army’s 9th Battalion operating in Bakol Province has today launched an offensive against al-Shabaab bases in Bakol, and took over several locations, said officials.
The today’s operation has targeted a terrorist hideout in Faraq, Dhumii Omane villages and others which is the east of the provincial capital of Huddur.
Bakol Governor Mohamed Abdi who spoke to the people living in the liberated areas said their aims were to root out al-Shabaab from the region and deliver aid to the needy people who were under al-Shabaab rule for the last ten years.
