Regional Galmudug MPs have on Tuesday extended a one-year extra term for the president Ahmed Abdi Karie voting in favor of 56 lawmakers.
According to the Galmudug constitution the president’s term is four years but this means from now on the president will have a five years term.
It’s the third federal member state leader who extends his term by one year, previously, president of Jubaland Ahmed Madobe has done the same, while early on South west parliamentarians have voted to one year extra for the president Laftagareen.
Four out of five FMS leaders’ term is now five years, it’s not known how federal government will accept this latest move taken by Galmudug lawmakers.
