Somali president H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Friday launched in Mogadishu the green Somalia imitative prepared by the ministry of environment and climate change, to fight the deforestation and mitigate the impact of climate change.
The president has planted one out of 10 million trees that will be planted in the country in the coming years to regreen the country.
“Our goal is planting more than 10 million trees”, said the president as he was speaking at the launching ceremony on Friday.
“I am hereby declared and ordered by the mayor of Mogadishu and the minister of environment, that up to 100,000 trees must be planted in the capital before December this year,” he added.

During his remarks today, the president has emphasized the significance of protecting the environment and he made a comparison between those cut trees and then argued it’s a lifesaving matter and one cut his body part to save life.
