The acting country’s prime minister Salah Jama has today met in Mogadishu ministerial drought committee and members of non-state actors to give him an update the ongoing drought response which the government spearhead for this mission.
During the meeting the deputy prime minister, was briefed on the latest development of drought response activities in the country to assist millions of people in brink of famine across Somalia.
Up to seven million people in the country have reported being severely hit by droughts after failing four consecutive rainy seasons, exacerbated by recent food price hikes caused by the Russia and Ukraine war.
The deputy premier Salah Jama ordered the committee to expedite the drought response effort to reach the displaced people before it’s too late to go.
