Somali Spy chief visits today in Ethiopia

The director of Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency NISA Mahad Mohamed Salad has on Wednesday started in neighboring Ethiopia on a two-day official working visit, upon his arrival at the Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport received a warm welcome by the Ethiopian officials.

During his tour in Ethiopia, he is expected to visit the country’s information and security institutions during their stay in Ethiopia. It has been stated that there will be a consultation with national information and security service leaders regarding information exchange to prevent terrorism, capacity building fields, and joint measures to ensure continued peace and security.

This comes after Somalia’s chief spy had met in Mogadishu with Ethiopia’s deputy director intelligence and agreed to have security cooperation and information sharing.

Somalia and Ethiopia have shared common enemy which is the al-Shabaab terror group, who invaded Ethiopia early this year, and engaging with intelligence cooperation will boost the counter terrorism offensive.

The current administration headed by H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is committed to defeat terrorists in Somalia which has been held as hostage the country’s security for the last 15 years, and recent offensive spearheaded by local clan-based fighters will be the beginning the end of al-Shabaab and other criminal originations.
