Somali police commissioner lieutenant General Abdi Hassan has appointed on Tuesday Colonel Mahdi Omar Mumin as the new commander of Benadir regional police division, replacing his predecessor brigadier general Farhan Qarole, who was killed last month in an operation near Balcad district just 30km north of Mogadishu.
Mumin also will head the police paramilitary unit called Harmacad, and promoted to the range of colonel as he taking this new role in the service.
The new commander, currently was serving as Galmudug intelligence commander.
